What should I ask a mobile mechanic before they come out?
Before they leave, ask what the visit costs, who supplies the parts and whether there is a warranty. Those three answers prevent most surprises.
The price, in parts
Ask them to split the visit, labor and parts. A single all in number is hard to compare. Ask whether the visit fee comes off when they do the job.
Parts
Some mechanics bring the parts and charge to source them. Others prefer that you buy them. Both are fine, but know which before they come. If you buy the part, ask who stands behind it if it is bad.
Warranty
Ask whether the work is covered and what is covered. Get it in writing, even a text message. A text with a date and a price is worth a lot if something goes wrong.
Language
If you would rather talk in Spanish, say so on the first call. This list marks Spanish confirmed only when the owner confirms it. If you do not see it, that does not mean they do not speak it, only that we have not checked.
Common questions
Is it normal to pay up front?
For expensive parts, some ask for a deposit. Get a written receipt and do not pay in full before work starts.
Can I get a quote by text?
Yes. Send photos plus the year, make and model. Many mechanics will give a range before coming out.
